Republic of The Union of Myanmar, (formerly known as Burma) is recognized by the world as the Golden Land and it is the largest nation in mainland Southeast Asia.  Its neighboring countries are China, India, Bangadesh, Laos, and Thiailand as seen in the map of Myanmar and is located between the two most populous nations in the world—China and India.  It is the second largest country in South East Asia after Indonesia.

Climate

We're enjoys in tropical climate with three seasons. The hot season (Summer) runs from March to mid May with sunny and hot, the rainy season from mid May to early October and heavy monsoon rainfalls in coastal regions. In cool season from mid October until the end of February with pleasant. The hot time to visit Myanmar is from November to January.
In our Motherland, all seasons have attractions and visitors can choice the appropriate time condition of the trip.

People and Race

A population of approximately over 60 million people in Myanmar, consist of seven main national races; Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Bamar, Mon, Rakkhine and Shan. Myanmar is a union of 135 ethnic groups with their own languages, dialects and culture.

 

Religion

About 85 percent of Myanmar people are Theravada Buddhist. The rest are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism or animism.

Standard time of Myanmar is 0630 hours ahead of GMT.

 

Currency

Myanmar currency is known as "kyat" and we used in current notes are 10000, 5000, 1000, 500 and so on. Useful notes are 1000 Ks and you may easily accessible Myanmar currency at Foreign exchange center in Airport or Private bank by showing the passport. Do not exchange money with street money dealers which are not safety.
Now, ATM machines are accessible in Major Tour Sites such as Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan. However, it can withdraw Myanmar money only from Master Card & Visa Card.

Passport & Visas

A valid passport with Entry visa is required for all visitors. Tourist visa validity is 28 days and visa fees are US$ 30. Visitors can apply Myanmar visa in Myanmar Embassies at their relevant countries or can be obtained e-visa at thins link (http://evisa.moip.gov.mm)

 

Telecommunication

In Myanmar, any oversea phones are doesn’t work in here. But there is Myanmar SIM cards rental services of Yadanarpon Teleport at Yangon International Airport.
For overseas call, you can try from the hotels in major tour sites. Or you can contact by e-mail because Internet access is widely available. You will be see many internet café shop in most of the tourist spots of our country.

 

Food

Basically, Myanmar traditi onal food is curry and rice. So, the curry, salad, soup and cooked vegetables are eat together with rice at once. As we have many international standard restaurant, tourist can available also European, Thai, Chinese Food and Japanese etc..
We also recommend you to taste our Myanmar Food in your trip at least once. That is not so much spicy and sure you’ll be like it.
