Yangon

Yangon, formerly called as Dagon became the capital of the country in 1885 when previous capital- Mandalay was seized by British. Yangon means 'End of Strives'. It was renamed as Rangoon by British rulers and was used until 1988. The seaport town has been developed within over a century time and became a clean beautiful city in Southeast Asia.
The Holiest place of Yangon, Shwedagon pagoda is the world's biggest glistening golden stupa, built on Seguttara Hill, in which the relics of previous Buddhas including hair relics of last Gautama Buddha were enshrined since Budhha's lifetime.
Many more wonderful things can be seen on actual visit to the shine. One will feel it would be quite unlike and land that A tour to Myanmar will not complete without visiting this holiest astonishing temple.

Golden Rock

Kyaik-tiyo Pagoda is well known as Golden Rock. A huge boulder on which a gilded stupa was built, is incredibly balancing on a high cliff in a deep forest. Previously, for many years, the only mode of travel was only climbing on foot along the steep slopes and mountain ridges among thick bamboo jungle until the summit where holy Golden Rock, which is, situated 4000ft above sea level. It is actually very much more enjoyable journey to climb up with friends on foot although cars and buses are now easily reached to the cliff. People believe that climbing to Golden rock is soul-cleansing experience. Elderly and disabled people, also for their baggage, can hire the palanquins, carried by local men. Bagan

Occupying the extensive dry plain on eastern bank of majestic Ayeyarwaddy river, old city Bagan scatters the ruins of several thousand ancient Buddhist monuments which were built in early 2nd millennium. King Anawrahta, in AD1044, founded First Burmese Empire and introduced Theravada Buddhism to throughout the country. Majority of the religious monuments in Bagan area were constructed during his time. Despite of a massive earthquake in 1975 that damaged many temples, immediate repair works could maintain the priceless heritages from totally vanishing. Even two or three full days time to Bagan is not enough for a thorough visit. Anyone arriving this zone cannot help surprising how people of those ancient times had abilities to build such amazing monuments without any modern construction technologies.Major places to visit in Bagan areAnanda Temple,Thatbyin Nyu Temple,Dhammayangyi Temple,Shwezigon Pagoda,Shwesandaw Pagoda,Myazedi Stone,Manuha temple,etc.

Inle lake

Inle Lake is the major attraction of Shan States for all tourists. Located in Nyaungshwe township, 2880ft above sea level, with 158 sq-km area, the beautiful giant lake with bluish grey serene water on which leg-rowing fishermen, thick reed mats, arrays of various plantation of vegetable and flowers, floating markets, long-legged wooden houses of 70000 Intha (local villagers) people, amazing traditional weaving workshops, will make the visitor bewilder as if surfing to a new world. 800-years-old Phaung Daw U Pagoda, built by King Alaung Sithu is a mid-lake temple in which lavishly gilded five Buddha images were enshrined and its pagoda festival is held in ending period of Buddhist Lent (usually in October).

Ngapali Beach

Ngapali Beach is the most attractive and unspoiled sea resort amongst country's beaches. It is located about 10km southwest of Thandwe (Sandoway), within reach by an hour domestic flight from Yangon. Thandwe was once an important port town of Indian merchants from Malay Peninsula. Jumping out from beach resort hotel rooms, surrounded by white clean sand, low gradient clear water, arrays of tall shady coconut and palm trees, one can choose any of memorable activities such as sunbathing, swimming, surfing in open seasons, tasting local seafood, cycling, beach sports and even observing fishermen villages.

Chaung-tha beach

Chaung-tha beach is located 40 km to the west of Pathein ( Bassein) in Ayeyarwady Division. A regular double-decker boat leaves Yangon about 4 pm every evening and reaches Pathein early in the next day and bus drive from Pathein to Chaung-tha takes about 2 hours. It is also reached by road from Yangon via Pathein taking about 5 hours.

Mandalay

Mandalay, The second capital of country was founded by King Mindon in 1857, serving as King's Palace until 1885. The city reflects so many aspects of cultural, historical, religious and social values of a century time. Mandala's Buddhist monasteries are amongst the most important in the country- about 60% of all the monks in Myanmar reside in the Mandalay area.

U Bein bridge

U Bein bridge is 200-years old rickety wooden bridge made of teak planks from the demolished Inwa Palace, crossing Lake Taungthaman. It is intersting to learn villagers and cyclists travelling on that bridge for daily routine.

Mandalay Hill

Mandalay Hill is a best place to enjoy breathtaking panoramic view of city from the 790ft-high summit on which Gautama Buddha had believed to have arrived in His lifetime. Mode of transportation to hilltop is either by car until the apex or climbing up along the roofed stairway at 1700-over steps by frequent halts to rest and breath fresh air.

Pyin U Lwin (Maymyo)

Pyin U Lwin (Maymyo) is a 1070m-high beautiful hilltop resort town built by Colonel May in late 19th Century. Two-hour-long Jeep-ride along snaky hilly roads from Mandalay to Pyin U Lwin gives breathtaking views. British colonial buildings, pleasant cool temperature, Botanical Garden, Waterfalls, Chinese temples, historic huge Maha Ant-tu-kan-tha Buddha image, lovely horse-cart and local Shan food would add the city tour much more facinating.

Mrauk U

Mrauk U is the youngest of eight ancient royal capitals, located on an isolated plateau in western Myanmar. Inhabited by Rakhine (Arakan) people. Mrauk-U is the ornament of Rakhine culture. Once, more than six million shrines and pagodas flourished in Mrauk-U. There is rarely any hilltop that does not adorn itself with one pagoda or another.

Bago

The City of Bago is situated on the river of same name, 80 km northeast of Yangon. The ancient capital of "Hanthawadi " said to have founded in 573 AD by two Mon princes from the capital Thaton. In 13th century Bago became the center of the Mon kingdom of "Ramanadesa" which consist of all lower Myanmar. In 16th century Burmese took over the capital when king "Tabinshwehti" annexed Bago to his "Taungoo" second dynasty kingdom.Bago is one of the richest archaeological site in Myanmar.

Shwe-maw-daw Pagoda

Over 2000-yeat-old Shwe-maw-daw Pagoda,114- meter-high Buddha Image overlooks the land scrape, was built by two merchants 'Taphussa' and ' Bhikkika', and was rebuilt several times because of damaged caused by earthquakes. The gilded Pagoda is said to house a number of Holy Relics of the Buddha and is consequently one of the most venerated pagodas in the country.

Shwe-tha-hlaung Pagoda

The huge 1000-years-old Shwe-tha-hlaung Pagoda is reckoned to be one of the largest reclining Buddha and the most life-like, measuring 55-meters in length and 16-meters in high.

Kan-baw-zathati Palace

The creditable achievement of King Bayin-naung was fully recorded in Myanmar history. Especially, the new Capital "Hamsavaddy"(Hanthawady) which king Bayin-naung founded and the new palace Kanbawzathadi that he built where mentioned in some details not only in native chronicles but also in Foreign Historical Writings. Achievement of King Bayin-naung's military campaigns, political, social and religious merits his capital palace Kanbawzathadi are world renown. An immortal fame and historic figure like King Bayin-naung, the royal capital Hamsavaddy and that of the palace Kanbawzathadi at Bago have been well known to the Myanmar People.
